Imagine high school students learning important financial lessons while playing an online game similar to Mario Brothers. High school players use up/down keys to move a character through a maze or route. That’s the concept behind the Money Smart Cache! Online contest. Using a computer, smart phone or tablet, players play the game and learn important financial lessons. This exciting and engaging game features personal finance info every high school student should know.

There is a $250 national prize for the teacher who gets the most students participating. There is also $250 national prize students can compete for. Winners will be announced the week of May 4th, 2020.

Online game is open for play from March 30 to May 5, 2020. Registration ends Friday, March 13, 2020.

GETTING STARTED

Step 1

Spread the word to local high school districts and classroom.  This online game is a simple tool for teachers to use instead of creating a financial education lesson plan.

Why should they participate?

Step 2

Encourage high school teachers to register by 03/13/2020.

Send them the link to this sign-up form.

Step 3

Once registered, the teacher is provided a pass code that gives their students access to the Cache! competition via their mobile device

The game can be used as a stand-alone activity or a fun re-cap for a personal finance unit.

Share the Teacher’s Guide with registered teachers so they can learn more about how the program works.

Step 4

Watch your local educators and students win big!

Winning students and teachers will be announced May 2020.

Money Smart Cache! requires minimal resources and preparation yet offers a fun and simple alternative for teachers to provide a financial education lesson as well as an assessment. Here are a few additional perks:

  • Participation can help classrooms meet National Standards for Financial Literacy.
  • High school students typically do not attend traditional Money Smart Week events, but have been engaged with this interactive digital activity.
  • Student participation incentive is a $250 national prize.
  • Teachers who participate will be eligible to win a national prize; the teacher with the most students participating will win $250.
